Description

As a child, Nadia Wheatley had a sense of the great divide between her parents, who had met and married while working in Germany on the front line of the Cold War. Growing up in 1950s Australia, Nadia became a player in their deadly contest. More than just a memoir, Her Mother’s Daughter is also a social history, told through the lives of a mother and her daughter.

Nadia has been a full-time writer for more than forty years. In 2014 the University of Sydney awarded her an Honorary Doctorate of Letters, in recognition of ‘her exceptional creative achievements in the field of children’s and adult literature, her work as an historian and her contribution to our understanding of Indigenous issues, cultural diversity, equity and social justice and the environment through story’.
